Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between FDX-B and HDX animal ear tags?

FDX-B and HDX are two LF animal RFID data formats commonly used with 134.2 kHz ISO 11784 / ISO 11785 animal identification systems. FDX-B uses full-duplex communication, where the tag and reader transmit at the same time, while HDX uses half-duplex communication, where the tag is first charged and then sends its ID back. The best choice depends on the reader, farm system and regional project requirement.

Are round button ear tags always low-frequency RFID tags?

Round button ear tags are commonly used for LF 134.2 kHz animal EID, including FDX-B and HDX options. However, tag shape alone should not be treated as a fixed rule. The final frequency and protocol depend on the selected chip and customer system.

When should I choose a UHF animal ear tag?

UHF animal ear tags are useful when longer reading distance, batch reading, gate reading or faster farm inventory management is required. UHF read range depends on tag design, animal movement, reader power, antenna setup and the operating environment.

Can CedaGlo customize the ear tag color, number and logo?

Yes. CedaGlo supports custom colors, laser serial numbers, ink printing, logo printing, barcode, QR code and chip encoding. Custom mold, size and packaging options can also be discussed for project orders.

Which animals are these RFID ear tags suitable for?

The tags can be used for cattle, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, deer and other livestock. The recommended tag size, material and locking structure should be selected according to the animal type and farm application.

Can animal information be stored directly in the chip?

Depending on the chip model and memory capacity, selected information or ID data can be encoded in the tag. In most livestock systems, the tag stores a unique ID, while detailed birth, breeding, medicine and health records are managed in connected software.
