What Is a Contact Memory Card?
A contact memory card is the simplest type of contact IC card: a plain EEPROM chip in a standard ISO/IEC 7816 card body, used purely to store and rewrite small amounts of data. Unlike logic-encryption or CPU cards, a contact memory card has no password and no processor — which keeps it the lowest-cost option for high-volume, non-secure applications.
Our memory cards are built on the AT24C series and on China-made FM24C (Fudan) and GT24C (Giantec) equivalents, so they drop straight into existing readers and personalization lines. Capacity ranges from 128 bytes to 64 KB depending on the part. For the full international ↔ China chip mapping, see the chip selection & cross-reference table below.
Where EEPROM Memory Cards Fit Best
- Low-cost ID and record cards for libraries, warehouses, visitors and service teams
- Replacing magnetic-stripe or paper records in controlled, insert-to-read environments
- Fixed-terminal systems where cards are read deliberately, not over the air
- High-volume programs where per-card cost matters more than on-card security
- Storing simple structured data — IDs, counters, status flags and small record sets
Why Choose CedaGlo Memory Cards
For Legacy System Upgrades
Reuse or adapt existing contact-card infrastructure more easily than moving to complex new platforms.
For Controlled Environments
Best for desks, kiosks, terminals and service points where cards are inserted deliberately.
For Budget-Sensitive Projects
Lower total cost than most secure or contactless solutions, ideal for high-volume rollouts.
For Simple Structured Data
Enough memory for IDs, counters, status flags and small record sets — no over-engineering.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the memory capacity of a contact memory card?
Capacity ranges from 128 bytes (AT24C01) up to 64 KB (AT24C512), selected by part number. These are EEPROM chips with ≥10 years data retention and ≥100,000 write cycles, accessed over the ISO/IEC 7816 contact interface using the I²C protocol.
Are your memory cards compatible with Atmel / Microchip AT24C chips?
Yes. We build them on the AT24C series and on China-made FM24C (Fudan) and GT24C (Giantec) equivalents. They are pin- and I²C-protocol compatible, so they work as drop-in replacements in existing readers and personalization lines.
What are contact memory cards typically used for?
They suit non-sensitive data such as library member IDs, warehouse records, visitor registration, and device or service logs. The card acts as a simple readable carrier, while access rights and valuable data stay in your back-end system.
Do memory cards offer password protection or encryption?
No. A plain memory card has no password or anti-tamper logic. If you need password protection, choose a logic-encryption card such as SLE4442 or FM4442; for cryptographic processing and high security, choose a CPU card. We can advise the right type for your project.
