What Is a Financial / Payment CPU Card?

A CPU card is a smart card built around a secure microcontroller with its own operating system and dedicated cryptographic coprocessor — far beyond simple memory or logic-encryption cards. It executes RSA, ECC, AES and 3DES on-chip (plus Chinese SM2 / SM3 / SM4 on China silicon), so secret keys are generated and used inside the chip and never leave it.

For banking and payment, the card is personalized with an EMV-aligned or scheme-compliant applet and holds the keys needed for authentication and transaction signing. The same secure platform also serves government ID, transit and multi-application programs. We supply international chips (Infineon SLE78, NXP P71 / SmartMX, ST33) and functionally equivalent China alternatives. A CPU card runs a real operating system on a secure microprocessor with a dedicated crypto coprocessor, executing RSA, ECC, AES and 3DES on-chip. A logic-encryption card (such as SLE4442) only offers password-protected memory. For banking, identity and PKI you need the certified processing and key management that a CPU card provides.

Are the China chips (FM1280, CIU9872B, THD89) equivalent to Infineon, NXP and ST?
